I Have a Shelter

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling."

~Psalm 46:1-3 (ESV)

I was particularly blessed by the following song as I commuted to work this morning. We have a God Who will not refuse us in our deepest sin. He will not forsake us in our biggest, most-constant, "never-ending" trial. When the constancy of trying and tests would break us like a brittle branch enduring as long as possible in a fierce winter wind, God's strength will never forsake us! Therefore, brothers and sisters, we shall not break--because He shall not and cannot break His promises.

Enjoy the lyrics of this song, "I Have a Shelter." I have bolded some of the text that I found a blessing today.

I Have a Shelter
I have a shelter in the storm
When troubles pour upon me
Though fears are rising like a flood
My soul can rest securely

O Jesus, I will hide in You
My place of peace and solace
No trial is deeper than Your love
That comforts all my sorrows

I have a shelter in the storm
When all my sins accuse me
Though justice charges me with guilt
Your grace will not refuse me
O Jesus, I will hide in You
Who bore my condemnation
I find my refuge in Your wounds
For there I find salvation

I have a shelter in the storm
When constant winds would break me
For in my weakness, I have learned
Your strength will not forsake me
O Jesus, I will hide in You
The One who bears my burdens
With faithful hands that cannot fail

You’ll bring me home to heaven

Daily Thought: Persevering Through Pain

Varying Trails of Life
There are many trails to endure, enjoy, weather, and persevere through on the Christian journey. Each trail is part of a main road leading to Glory. Never will any of your pain, or your happiness for that matter, be in vain if the direction of your perseverance be toward Him. Never will the end of a heavy trial alas find you in defeat if your strength be drawn from Him. Never will He raise up a child only to let him go.
In this life, there are trails of pain--the pain of broken relationships, of shattered dreams, of cumulative daily troubles, of death and loss, of discipline.
There are trails of rejoicing--the joy of reconciliation, of Godly dreams come true, of resolved troubles, of new life, of undeserved gain, of the fruit of discipline.
Never will he leave you amidst either--or ever. Never will He forsake thee in thy pain. Never will He abandon His servants while they are yet rejoicing. By the promise of His own tongue, He will never, ever forsake thee.
Be comforted.
Amen.
"Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you" (Joshua 1:5)

Forever In Your Grace!

"No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you."
~Joshua 1:5 (ESV)

"Forever, You'll keep me in Your Grace, my Father.
And ever, we need not be afraid, for You're faithful."

-West Coast Revival

I have failed,
I cannot do it
That is why Christ had to do it for me,
Live the perfect life impossible for all humanity to live

You have won,
I have nothing left to fear but You, O God
You keep me in Your grace always,
I face no condemnation for my sin

So all the more as I realize the wonders of Your love,
The wonders of Jesus crucified,
The less I fear the accusations of the enemy of my soul,
Who loves to remind me of my sin,
To try to deceive me into thinking condemnation remains,
That Your sacrifice is not sufficient to save from all sin

The enemy is defeated,
I know that my Savior lives!
Forever You'll keep me in Your grace,
My Father

Though I have failed,
Though I have questioned You so often,
Though I yet put Your face from my view at times,
Blessed mercy, how can it be?
You have forgiven and redeemed the poorly invested time,
I am still with You because You are with me,
And forever I am with You until I die

I cannot be without You!
I cannot walk in prudence and wisdom apart from You!
Father, hear my cry for help,
Come to the rescue of these needful bones

I cannot live without You,
Thank You for Your everlasting grace
That Your promise remains unbroken forever,
That You will never leave or forsake me

It's not about me, but all about YOU, JESUS!!!
We earn nothing before you, and cannot!
You freely show Your mysterious mercy to us,
And that is why we carry on

Thank You Jesus!
